Everyday Heroes

Chestnut Class have had an exciting time this half term learning about Everyday Heroes. The children have discussed their understanding of how different people help us in the community. They read lots of non-fiction and fiction books, watched educational video clips and used drama to support their imagination, creativity and thinking skills in our role play areas e.g. pharmacy, doctors, dentist, police station and fire station.

The children also had the opportunity to meet many visitors like the Lollipop Lady, Dr Fielding the doctor, the Police, a train driver and the Fire service from Bishop Auckland. These visitors explained how they help people and make us safe. The children broadened their vocabulary as we discussed different uniforms, emergency vehicles and their practices of these different occupations. Thank you to everyone who supported the teaching and learning in Chestnut Class.
